About Troop 4019
Troop 4019 is located in Sayre, Pennsylvania about 1 mile from the New York State border
in a region called "The Valley". Although Sayre exists today as little more than a dot on the
map, it has a rich and colorful history. Sayre was home to one of the largest railroad repair facilities for the expanding Lehigh High Valley railroad and is now home to Guthrie Medical Group - PC.
Troop 4019 is sponsored by the Church of the Redeemer and is part of the Andaste
District of the Five Rivers Council. The troop meets every Wednesday evening in the church's Fellowship Hall from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The troop welcomes all new Scouts at
any time, whether you're bridging from Cub Scouts or have no previous Scouting
experience. Scouting is open to all boys age 11 - 17 -- you need not start at age 11.
Scoutmaster John Johnson, JJ, has been with Troop 4019 for over 30 years becoming an Eagle Scout in 1991. JJ brings first hand knowledge to the troop and is often seen volunteering to help other local scout organizations. The troop offers a wide range of activities for our scouts from local camping to summer high adventure trips. Scouts from the troop recently attended the National Boy Scout Jamboree at the Bechtel Summit National Scout Reserve in West Virginia. Plans are being made to attend the Florida Seabase high adventure camp.
